Dallas was super excited to move to California. He'd made prior preparations a month before, packing his things and saying bye to his friends. Saying bye to Esme and what was left of her family was the hardest thing he'd done in the last ten years aside from making the decision not to bail Blake out of jail. After he'd told Blake the news that he wasn't his actual dad, Blake spiraled out of control, even for Dallas. After a while, he just stopped trying and let Blake do what he wanted. With the boy's new freedom, he had gotten himself wrapped up and buried in a hole that he couldn't pull himself out of. He'd turned to the only father he knew for help and received a slammed door and found himself just plain shit out of luck.
That was the hardest thing that Dallas had ever done for sure. He still felt guilty for not trying to reach out to him one last time, but now there was nothing he could do. He knew that Blake would probably be allowed parole soon enough, so he went to find a new start before he found himself in an even bigger mess. About a week before Dallas made the decision to move, he'd received a letter from a girl in California. Her name was Kallie Armstrong and she said that her mother had finally told her who her dad was and gave her his name and address just in case she wanted to contact him on her own terms. She sounded desperately excited to meet him, and he was in shock that he had a daughter that he hadn't known about for eighteen years.
He'd been in town nearly a month before he went to find Cici. He had bought a new house and filled it with everything that he wanted, finally moved his two cats in along with himself and started fixing things that needed to be taken care of. A week after Dallas had moved into his new home, he arranged to meet his daughter. She was everything that he had ever hoped for especially because she wasn't bitter to him. They'd spent almost every day after that together when she wasn't in class or at work. They had eighteen years to catch up on, after all!
When Dallas called Cici and told her to come outside, he was so excited seeing as it'd been a good six or so months since he'd last seen her. Even though she wasn't blood, she was like his niece and out of all of Esme's children, the one he had the closest bond with. As he waited for her to come downstairs, he looked around, thinking that the neighbors probably thought he was a creep standing out in the front yard of a bunch of college girl's house. He headed towards the front door where he continued to wait. What was taking this girl so long?

"Shit.." Cassidy whispered under her breath as she set her phone down. What was she going to do now? She wouldn't have any issue with her uncle being in town or even wanting to visit her if he had only given her some sort of notice beforehand. She wasn't prepared for this! She and Cole weren't even dating, how was she going to explain to him that he was going to be meeting someone who had such an important role in her life? Dallas wasn't her uncle biologically, of course, but he had been her godfather when she was younger and he'd been there for as long as she could remember so he might as well be considered family.
Could she hide Cole somewhere in the house until he left? She just knew that if he saw her with a boy as handsome as Cole then he'd immediately go running to her mother after he left which she just couldn't let happen. She was growing rather fond of the boy and she didn't want her mother's pressure to ruin it. She knew that the woman meant well but it could get a tad frustrating when she was just oh so very supportive of the idea of her daughter getting married at twenty-one. Someone like Cole crossed off every single item on her mother's checklist for the perfect son in law - he was intelligent, handsome, charismatic and he didn't appear to have a player bone in his body. She couldn't imagine him being like Blake and hurting her which was nice.
"Okay.. Fuck... Um sit on the couch and pretend to be a statue. We can do this! My uncle is outside and it's kind of a long story but if he sees you then he'll tell my mom and nobody wants to deal with that. I think if you just stay perfectly still and silent then he won't notice you." She probably sounded and looked insane as she quickly bounced around the room rearranging pillows and placing the magazines back on the coffee table in the correct order. She even moved her Ben and Jerry's red velvet cake ice cream back into the freezer. She hadn't ate more than a bite of it so that wasn't really a tragedy. She shouldn't have been eating it anyway considering how fat that she was getting.
Fuck. What if he thought that she was pregnant? She briefly gave thought to pouring herself a glass of wine so it was sort of obvious that she wasn't expecting but she realized that might not actually work. He could always just assume that she was a really terrible mother to be with no regard for her unborn baby's health. She didn't have time to try and change into something that would hide the 'fat' better since he was waiting outside so she just forced herself to head out the front door. She couldn't avoid greeting him forever without him suspecting that she no longer cared for him. "Hey you~!"
She sounded a little awkward as she stood by her open door, "Um, do you want to come inside?" It was now or never. She knew already that he wasn't going to willingly stand outside waiting forever.

{{http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=97780275 }} "Who was that?" Cole asked just as Cici got off the phone. He pursed his lips when she ignored his question. Why was she suddenly so frantic? Confused, he asked again, "Who's outside?" He even went so far as to try and peek out the window for a glimpse, and what he saw was the a man with his back turned towards them. Was that her dad? Oh shit.. what if it was? What if he didn't approve that he was here and forbid him from ever seeing his daughter again? Cole backed up from the window and followed Cici because he didn't know what else to do. Should he hide or something? Maybe sneak out the window in the back like they were in high school?
He listened when she told him to sit on the couch, and did just that. He slunk as deep as he could into the cushions in hopes that he could just blend in. Knowing that it was her uncle rather than her father made him a little more at ease, but still he was trying to blend in. Maybe he was a fucking idiot and wouldn't even notice! Would that be just the bee's knees? "Should I not introduce myself? What if he tries to talk to me?" Before Cici could answer, she was rushing for the door. "Okay then.." Cole mumbled to himself. Was it too late to hide in the curtains?
"Cici!" Dallas hollered when she opened the door. He shook his head at her offer, "No, I'd like to stand out here and wait for God all day, of course I want to come in!" He said, walking past her. He pivoted on his heels and looked around, "Shit, nice place." He spotted the living room and invited himself to sit. Just because she was acting like a stranger didn't mean he had to! "How've you been, Ci?" Dallas asked, laying his arm up over the back of the couch. Cole sat motionless and couldn't believe that the man hadn't noticed him. Or maybe he had, and just either didn't care or was pretending like he wasn't there to avoid something awkward.
His invisibility cloak didn't last long as he slowly turned his head toward the unfamiliar man just about the same time Dallas was doing the same. Cole had a hint of fear in his eyes and Dallas looked like he had seen a ghost. Neither could find the first words to say and found themselves just staring at the other. Finally, Dallas spoke, "Who the fuck are you?" His tone was firm but curious because he was a little freaked out that he saw the spitting image of his younger self sitting right next to him. Surely he hadn't accidentally driven into an alternate universe, right?
Cole nervously looked to Cici and then back to Dallas. "Uhm.. Cole?" He paused, "..Cole McDunna." He said, slowly before offering his hand. Dallas couldn't stop staring at this mirror image. At least, not until he was sticking his hand out. This had to be some kind of a dream, right? Right? He cautiously went to shake the boy's hand and when they touched, he knew that he wasn't dreaming. He had a weak shake, they boy did, compared to Dally's firm grip. "Dallas.. Cici's uncle.. Have we met before?" He dropped their shake and snapped his head to Cici. "Ci, have I met him?" He looked back to Cole. "I feel like I know you.." As Dallas leaned in a little closer, he could see that this boy even had the same golden flakes in his eyes. This was just all too weird. Cole shook his head and leaned away just a little bit, wondering if this guy was always this personal. "Cici," Dallas continued, not taking his eyes off Cole, "Where did you say you two met?"

"I know! I can't believe that we actually get to live here." Cassidy gushed as she followed Dallas into the living room. This was actually working really well for her! She smirked as she watched Dallas sit down without a clue as to what she was being so strange about. Was he seriously this stupid? She almost wanted to high five Cole and whisper about what a great job that they were doing but she figured that would be just a little too risky right now. She was going to do it eventually but it could wait at least like five minutes. She still had some other things to hide er straighten up anyway. "Oh um.. I've been fine. You?" She wasn't really paying him much attention. If she didn't somehow hide the pictures of Faith and Everett then she'd have to deal with a very angry brunette yelling at her for risking her and her son's safety.
She didn't think that Dallas was really posing a risk to either of the two but apparently Faith thought that he was going to try and go for his grandparents rights or inform Blake of where she was currently living. She let out a small sigh as she moved the framed pictures down so you couldn't see the memories inside. It was still incredibly strange to think that she was currently living with the son of someone who she used to think that she'd end up with. She was so distracted with her own thoughts that she hadn't noticed that Dallas had spotted Cole.. If she had saw that then she would have intervened right away to avoid even more awkwardness. That also would have prevented her from letting out a literal squeak when she heard Dallas ask who the fuck Cole was. Shit.
She watched the interactions between Cole and Dallas carefully and shifted her weight uncomfortably from one foot to the other. She didn't want to interrupt right now but she was already prepared to if she needed to get involved. She was kind of seeing them like two wild dogs who aren't quite predictable yet so they could either become fast friends or rip each others throats out. "I don't see how you could have met him, Dallas." She shrugged before moving to sit down next to Cole. She hadn't intended on sitting on his lap but she'd ended up there on accident and just decided to make it look like she'd done it on purpose. It would just be worse for all of them if she admitted that she hadn't meant to do it and didn't quite feel comfortable with this position. Plus, being right here would hopefully prevent Dallas from taking an angry swing at the other man's face if he got frustrated at the idea of him touching his niece.
"Um.. I didn't say where we met but we were at a party. We spent the whole night grinding but this little shit wouldn't have sex with me." She had a tendency to over share when she was nervous and this was apparently one of those times. She wouldn't have blurted that out if she was actually even slightly using her brain right now. She'd not only told Dallas that she had wanted to have sex with Dallas but she'd also just kind of implied that Cole was not man enough to do it for one reason or another. What a great first impression! "Are um.. are either of you hungry?" She asked quietly as she moved around on Cole's lap. Should she get off of him now? Could she do that without looking like she was insane? "And um.. What brings you into town anyway? I know that I'm not the best at geography but I do know that this isn't exactly a short drive from Manhattan."

Cole hadn't realized just how far he's recoiled away from Dallas. What was he staring at? Why did he want to know if they'd met before? Cici was right when she said there was no way that he could know him. He'd never seen this man before in his life. More a moment, Cole wondered if he greeted everyone like this.. so inquisitive. He then wondered if Dallas just had no sense of a personal bubble because he had long invaded his.
Dallas didn't notice how close he was to the boy under his face was just a little further than a foot away. He just couldn't wrap his head around the resemblance. Where did this kid come from? He had to have been created in some kind of government facility or something and somehow they'd gotten his genes. That was logical, right? Well, it was in his mind and everyone knew that was a scary, dangerous place. Dallas sighed and backed away from Cole who was now blushing from Cici's explanation about where they'd met. "At a party would have been enough." He said, returning to the far end of the couch where he originally sat.
"I'd love a beer, if you've got it." Dallas asked before looking back to Cole. "What about you? Beer man or pussy martinis?" Dallas squinted his eyes at the boy who looked freaked out beyond return. Cole furrowed his eyebrows back at Dallas and sat up a little bit straighter. Why was he intimidated by this guy? There was no need to be! "Beer all the way." Cole said in a firm voice and involuntarily wrapped his arm around Cici's waist. Was that a no no or would Dallas not care? He even pulled his into his chest a little bit so it wouldn't be such a strain on her.
"It's actually kind of a weird story actually.." Dallas started, pulling his ankle up on his knee. "But long story short, I'm living here now. I got a le-... I'll tell you later when you have time." He decided spilling everything that he'd found out about Kallie would be strange and maybe overwhelming for her. "So.." Dallas grunted, scratching at the scruff on his chin. "How long have you two been a cutsie couple?"

Cassidy couldn't believe that Dallas thought that she was dating Cole! Where did he get such a strange idea from? She realized that sitting on someone's lap wasn't exactly the 'just friends' thing to do but it didn't necessarily mean that she was going out with him or even that she liked him. She just liked his lap! "Oh no! No no no no.. No.. No we're not dating, silly! We're just friends." She wanted to make her uncle feel as uncomfortable as he was likely making Cole feel so she decided to show him just how comfortable that she was with her friend. She moved her face close to his ear and whispered an affectionate, "Just play along when I get back okay?"
She stood up quickly to retrieve the drinks from the kitchen before going forward with her plan. She needed a couple of minutes to think about exactly what she was going to do and how far that she could take this without giving either of them the wrong impression. She didn't want Dallas feeling like she was making the wrong choices and she didn't want Cole to think that she was some easy blonde bimbo who was constantly throwing herself at him even though she kind of was one. She'd started grinding and making drunken sexual passes at him within ten minutes of meeting him at that party! She let out a small sigh as she handed both boys a bottle of beer and placed her wine cooler on the coffee table. She was legal!
She felt like Dallas deserved this since he'd invaded Cole's personal space before without even explaining why he was doing it! He seemed like an escaped mental patient. She wouldn't blame her lovely new friend if he never wanted to speak to her again over this whole situation. She moved right back onto Cole's lap and quickly pressed her lips against his. She was slowly adding intensity to the kiss before she was basically Frenching him with her uncle sitting right there. She moved her kissing towards his neck as her hands started going up his shirt to stroke his back. She knew that she was likely taking this way too far but she couldn't stop herself. She wanted to make it absolutely clear that she was going to do whatever she wanted to do and Dallas couldn't control her.. She'd like to hear him tell her mother about this one!
She clearly wasn't going to actually have sex with him right now but her gentle grinding against his lap might have been slightly misleading. She continued this little act for about two or three minutes before turning back to face Dallas with an oh so innocent expression on her face like she hadn't done anything at all. "Like I said, we're just friends." She assured him with a sickly sweet tone. She was way too good at pretending to be a sweet naive virginal girl with no experience. It was how she'd gotten herself through high school and into college... Who says you can't bribe your teachers to write you wonderful letters of recommendation?
"I have time if you want to tell me why you're here now." She added casually as she reached for her wine cooler. She wasn't going to let him see how uncomfortable that she was.
