Owen and Brody had went off for a swim after class to relax. When Owen had gotten tired of begin in the water, he back up to the house and hopped in the shower while Brody retrieved his board and went back out. After his shower, he got the notion to get a hold of Emma and the two quickly decided to grab some lunch. That was casual, right? He had a good spot that he went to quite often with his roommate that was comfortable, relaxed and private enough that he wouldn't have to deal with stupid people with stupid cameras.
Walking around his room stark naked, Owen browsed through his drawers and closet in search of something that he could wear that wouldn't be too fancy but would look like he just rolled out of bed. No, he needed something normal. He needed something that said 'confident' but not 'egotistical asshole' but still stuck to his little style. A suit was never a bad choice, but that was way over the top for such a simple occasion like this. But he wanted to look good! What if she dressed really really nice and he just went with something that wasn't nearly as good? Frustrated with all of the choices, Owen huffed and finally settled on a grey button up shirt and his new pair of dark wash jeans. Now for shoes..
It had to have been nearly thirty minutes before Owen had even put on a pair of briefs and was now in the bathroom straightening his hair. He knew girls who didn't even take this long to get ready! But his intentions were good.. he didn't know it, but he was trying to look appealing to impress Emma. After their little hookup with Kendra and Brody, he wanted to show her that sex wasn't the only think he cared about.. as nice and needed as it was. But it had been a long time since he'd taken a girl out with strictly platonic intentions. Come to think of it, was this an actual date?
Once he was finally ready to go, he popped in a piece of minty gum and headed to his car. He made sure that he had his wallet, phone and keys before hopping in and heading next door to pick Emma up. It was nice that she lived so close because he was there in no time at all. He pulled up in front of the house and exhaled heavily to shake out any doubt or nerves that he had. He wasn't sure if he should call her to let her know that he was outside or if he should go to the door. Going on on a whim, Owen stepped out and walked up the path, running his fingers through his bangs before knocking. Now all he had to do was wait..

Emma wasn't the kind of girl who went on dates. She was the girl who had sex before the whole thing began and then found out that the guy only wanted her for her body anyway and left out the window. She wasn't sure what to make of it when she and Owen had arranged to go get some lunch. Was she supposed to dress casual fancy or fancy fancy or just plain casual? She didn't want to look like she was putting any effort into her appearance but she also didn't want to look like she was trying too hard which put her in quite the predicament.
She ended up spending a good half an hour just trying to figure out what undergarments to wear! She didn't want to wear something 'old lady' just in case something happened between them after lunch. Sexier underwear would work but then she ran the risk of looking like she only wanted to come because she knew that something would happen between them which would make her look like a giant whore. Why did impressing him even matter so much to her? She knew the reason deep down but she wasn't ready to accept that yet.
She'd had sex with ton's of guys without any emotion surfacing! What made Owen so different? Why was he the one guy who was able to give her butterflies in her stomach? Or make her want to sing silly love songs? She almost liked these feelings. They reminded her that she was capable of feeling such things. She had her doubts there for a second.. She just hadn't fallen in love before and the idea that she could one day love Owen excited her.
She could already imagine him, her father and Miles hanging out in the living room over Thanksgiving while she and her mother prepared something for them to eat. Her little fantasy was broken when she heard someone (likely Owen) at the door. She considered running to the door to greet him but ended up just slowly making her way over there so it didn't seem like she had been waiting for him. She totally had been but he didn't need to know that. She didn't want him thinking that she was some creepy obsessed girl who started to develop feelings after one time. "Hey! You look really handsome." She leaned in to give him a hug and a peck on the cheek when something inside of her decided to do something else.
She kissed him on the corner of the mouth.
"I'm.. let's go." She just hoped that he didn't decide to comment on that.

Owen buried his hands deep inside his pockets while he waited for Emma to answer the door. Any nerves that he had previously brushed off were now creeping back as every second passed by. Only for a brief moment did he consider running back to his car and going home to hide but he knew that with her living right next door.. that was not going to be a possibility. She'd probably come over and ask why he stood her up or why he couldn't grow a pair and stay long enough to take her out. All of his previous feelings vanished when she opened the door and he saw her smiling face. "Heyy," He greeted, accepting her advance for a hug.
He was taken back a little bit with surprise when he felt her lips on the corner of his mouth. Wasn't that where the hidden kiss was in Peter Pan? Had she just stolen his kiss? That little shit! Wait.. why was he even thinking like a ten year old? He was a grown ass man who was here to take a lovely lady out to lunch at his favorite spot. When Emma pulled back, Owen smiled at her and took her hand to slowly spin her around. "Yes, but Miss... that dress is stunning on you." He said, returning the compliment. He suddenly felt slightly under dressed even though they weren't going anywhere fancy. Oh well, at least everyone would be envious that he had such a beautiful date and they had nothing but their left hand.. wait.. was this a date?
Owen grinned and then turned on his heels leading them to his car. They had gotten stuck in a traffic jam on the way to the little restaurant and somehow he had gotten their conversation into a topic about cats.. His cat especially and how he had two extra fingers on each front paw so it looked like he had thumbs. It wasn't until after he'd said it that he thought she might think that he was one of those sad lonely guys that only has a cat as their true friend. He felt his face starting to get red a little bit as he fell quiet and looked straight ahead. He could kick himself right now and hoped that she didn't look over at him before his blushing went away.
When they'd reached the place, he parked in one of the parking garages and offered Emma his arm to hold on to as they walked. Her heels made her taller which made him stand up straighter. "Have you ever been here?" He asked as they got to the door. There was a line formed, but he had his own little section outside where the courtyard was. There were five tables, but the whole section was his every time he came here. It was nice for group outings and things of that matter, or if he just wanted some time to himself seeing as there was a tall brick wall that separated the dining area from the street. They followed the waiter to the back area and out the side door. There was music playing rather softly from the speakers above which you really had to listen to hear. Owen ordered his usual Cherry Coke after Emma ordered hers, and when the waiter was gone, he leaned forward with his forearms on the table. "They've got everything here.. but their chicken fresco is the shit." He laughed, slightly raising his eyebrows. He'd gone quiet, already knowing his order, and looked at Emma. "So why'd you agree?" Owen paused, "To come with me today.. I mean.."

Everything about Owen so far was impressing Emma from his outfit to his compliment to the way that he talked about his cat. She found that actually quite adorable. She wanted a cat when she was younger but it just hadn't happened like she wanted. Her mother had told her that she could get one if she ever managed to go one whole week without getting into trouble. She couldn't manage that so the kitten thing never happened.
The place that he took her to wasn't as formal as she had worried that it would be but still lovely just as she expected of him. "This place is really nice, Owen..." Of course it was! He seemed like a perfect gentlemen. She ordered herself a glass of lemon ice tea and found herself just gazing at his beautiful face. How could anyone not want to just stare at him? He was gorgeous! She thought that he was almost attractive enough to be a male model.
"I obviously agreed to come here with you because I want to have sex with you." She teased him almost affectionately as she took a sip of her tea. "Why do you think that I agreed to come here?"

As he watched her, she watched him and it was suddenly like they were the only things that mattered on the planet. Like the world was inevitably going to parish and he didn't even care because he was ninety-eight percent sure that he was in the presence of a heavenly angel. They didn't even need words to entertain themselves because sharing stares and glances at the other seemed to be enough to keep them both happy. He gently shook his head at her reply to his question that pulled him out of the clouds and back down to earth.
"Heh, I'm not really sure, Emma." Owen admitted, his foreign accent thicker than mud. He offered her a shy smile as he stampered for a reason on why she would have actually agreed to go to lunch with such a "selfish pig" (as some called him). He suddenly felt bad for not telling her about the two girls that he had been having a very friendly and very sexual relationship with apart from them and their crazy hookup. Both of these other girls were nothing to him. He could drop them in a heart beat and sleep fine, but it was nice to have that little something extra. Either way, he had long since lost interest in both of them the moment that he started to see Emma in a different light.
Stirring his straw around in his soda, Owen looked back up to her. "Y'know... we've been neighbors for a while and I never so much as welcomed you to the neighborhood? I never really said 'ello nor even passed for a waive." The waiter had returned to take their food orders and he seemed kind of annoyed with the guy for interrupting him. As he left, Owen waited until he was back inside before he leaned back in his chair and smiled. "I never had the guts to as you over." He admitted, nervously running his thumb across his chin.

Emma didn't know why but she actually felt a little guilty for not being completely honest with Owen about her current relationship status. She figured that she was only with the old man for financial reasons so Owen's knowledge on the subject didn't matter but the guilt was quickly beginning to eat at her. Was she a little cheating whore if something happened between them? She and Henry weren't exclusive in the slightest so she didn't know how that would work. "I have a confession to make." She knew that there was a good chance that he was going to get angry and tell her that he never wanted to speak to her again but she needed to be honest.
"I um... I have a ...." She just couldn't get the words to come out! Or maybe, she just didn't want them to so she decided that honesty was never the best policy and she just had to make a confession up. "I watched you swim the first day that I saw you just to see if you had a nice body but I didn't come talk to you because I figured that you would be the player type with two girls on the side." She figured that he would think that she was kind of insane for taking so long to admit something so simple but she felt like that was better than him thinking that she was a no good gold digging whore who only wanted him for his money.
She didn't know much about his family but she'd asked her mother and apparently he came from such rich guy. Interesting. She would be fascinated by him even if he was homeless and living on the street though.. Something about him just kept her attention in a way that nothing else could. She'd met a lot of attractive guys in her life and nobody was as interesting as him. She wasn't thinking about riding his penis or how awesome that he was probably with his mouth. She just knew that her family would be just as impressed by him...
Maybe they'd finally be as proud of her as she knew that they were of Miles.
