Green, Ollie M. Olive Michael Green Ninteen White barista Straight Creative Writing Manage me I'm a mess, HEIGHT: Five feet six inches. WEIGHT: One hundred and forty three pounds. APPEARANCE: Ollie has long brown hair, the same haircut he had when he was fourteen pretty much. He looks extremely young compared to most people his age with his light brown hair, and big brown eyes. His sense of style is a weird one compared to some people, since he tends to wear things like baggy sweaters and t shirts with jeans. He says his best feature is his smile, since he wore braces for a long time as a teenager. There isn’t much else to say about him since he doesn’t have many good features appearance wise, or so he thinks. Turn a page LIKES:

OVERALL: Ollie is a very easy going kid. He is always open to a conversation and if you strike one with him he won’t say no. There is nothing that tells you that he’s not a normal nineteen year old boy on first glance. He looks happy, he laughs like all the other people around him he looks like he really enjoys life, but on the inside he is a scared little kid. A scared little kid that needs guidance; he has always been happy and easy going. That was one of the personality traits that remains’ with him; however he doesn’t always act like it. He doesn’t always act happy. Around his close friends he might actually act serious, and sad. That is the inside, unlike most people who put up a touch front so people will be scared of them, his front is happy and nice while on the inside he is actually scared and confused. He doesn’t like to trust people, and he rarely does. He doesn’t trust people with his secrets, and with his feelings, so when he likes someone he doesn’t tell them. He keeps it to himself and hopes the feelings go away. He doesn’t like to trust people with any part of him in fear that their just going to rip it out, and run away with it. He keeps all his feelings inside and acts like a happy person. Telling jokes with class mates and saying stupid things in class. He spends most of his time sitting around, well not really sitting around since he can’t stand sitting still, which is also one of the quirks that remain with him. He doesn’t like to sit still; he doesn’t like silence, so he says things. He says random things that no one even cares about. He’s always fidgeting with something, and acting nervous. He’s always scared that people are talking about him, and he’s always scared that people secretly hate him, but that’s what he keeps to himself, because all in all he likes the peace that no one cares about him. He likes the fact that no one notices him because that means that he doesn’t have to get to know as many people. He doesn’t have to fake it for those people and he doesn’t have to act like it’s easy when it really isn’t. He always has some kind of noise going on in the background. Whether it be music, television or just talking to himself or someone he can’t stand the silence, and that is probably how he makes most of his friends, by just starting a conversation with them to end the silence. It’s almost like he has a fear of silence, and that if he stops talking, that something will attack him. He can’t stand it, because it makes him think of things that have happened, and if he keeps away from the silence then it’s easy for him to just fade into the background. The same concept goes for moving. If he has something to do he has no time to think about things, and that is the last thing he needs. I'm a book half unread. HISTORY: Once upon a time there was a woman with two other kids, and one on the way. She was too stressed out preparing for the arrival of her little bundle of joy that she forgot to find a name. She didn’t want to be told if it was a boy or a girl, until the moment it was born, and had a feeling it would be a girl just like her last one. So less than a week before he was born the name Olive popped into her head, and it was declared that that would be the name of the third green child. Ollie was born three weeks early, and because of that his father, who had been with other family at the time missed the birth because by the time he found out about it, it took him too long to get there. So when the nurse told her it was a boy his mother said that they should name him Olive, of course not only was that an unattractive name but a girl’s name. The nurse could not say no however, and he got the name Olive. His older sister Phoenix and his older brother Jai used to make fun of him for having a girl name but he was ok with the nickname Ollie for the most part. Except when teachers called his name out on the first day of school and there was snickers, he didn’t really pay attention to the fact that his name was dumb. He went through school with a practically average life, living in a packed house full of people, there was him phoenix and Jai and two more Green children born seven years after him. He was the baby for a while, and developed an attitude like that, so when he got to high school he got in lots of trouble for doing things he shouldn’t have been doing but eventually joined a swim team to get away from it. He was good at it too. Until one day, it was the summer before his junior year of high school he had spent too much time babysitting his younger siblings during the summer, and since his older brother was back from college he decided that he could take a break from that and leave the kids with him while he went for a swim. It was a hot day, and his sister was supposed to pick him up later, it was a perfect plan. “So I’ll see you at two then?” she asked. Ollie nodded. “Have fun with mom and dad,” he said with a smirk. “I hope they don’t interrogate you too harshly,” he teased his older sister. “Oh you mean; ‘what college are you going to’ ‘what are you doing to study in college’ ‘You can’t major in creating video games’ ‘That’s such a useless major’,“ she mocked their voices almost perfectly when she said that. Ollie nodded. “Don’t get your hopes up too high little bro,” she said before she ruffled his hair. “Go have fun,” she added. He moaned when she messed with his hair, but got out anyway. Throwing his towel over his shoulder, he got out of the car and walked towards the pool. He rinsed put his things down on a chair and rinsed off before jumping in the pool. I It felt so good to be doing laps again, and this was the one thing he was good at it. It was like nothing else in life mattered and this was it. He wasn’t particularly good at anything else or so he thought, sure he was able to keep his grades up, but that didn’t mean anything. He didn’t enjoy any of those things like he did with swimming. He was the only one in the pool at that moment. He was in the zone, until he heard someone call his name. Why did that voice sound oddly familiar? “Oh it is you,” said the voice when Ollie swam over to the edge of the pool. He grabbed onto the ledge and looked to see a familiar face. “Oh Hey coach Johnson,” he said. It was his old swim instructor from when he was a kid. “Long time no see,” he said as he grabbed the edge of the pool and pulled himself out so that he could stand next to his old instructor. He shook his hand and nodded. “Still a shortie huh?” he asked. “Yeah my dad says I’m still growing, but look at Jai he’s a giant. So there’s gotta be a tall gene in there somewhere.” He had always been short, but his dad told him that he would grow someday. “I hope so.” The coach laughed. “How have you been?” “Oh you know just swimming along, my sister is off to college, and my mom was talking about signing my little brother up for a class with you this summer,” he said, “What are you doing here though?” “I actually just finished up a class with some kids before you showed up, I forgot me sunglasses though,” he motioned towards the glasses on top of his head. “I noticed you were struggling a little changing from the back to the breast stroke.” He said with a frown on his face. “Yeah I usually don’t do IM, but I’ve been practicing,” he said with a grin on his face. “Oh I can help you if you want,” the coach seemed happy to stay and waste his time helping Ollie. “Are you sure, you don’t have to,” Ollie said. He didn’t want to feel like he was being a burden to his old instructor. “Of course not,” he said. “Here,” he grabbed Ollie shoulder, and with his hand he used his other arm to simulate the movement of swimming with one hand. “You know I’ve been very lonely lately,” he whispered. At this point Ollie was starting to get the creeps, but he didn’t say anything. He froze. Didn’t his parents warn him about creepy teachers at one point, or creepy coaches or something, considering he was the most sporty on in the family, he should have heard this lecture. Ollie didn’t move, what was he supposed to do? He thought maybe if he pretended like nothing was wrong then it wouldn’t go further then that, but boy was he wrong. “Well heh,” he scratched his head with his free hand. “I uh…” he hesitated. Shit wasn’t the plan to act normal. “Wouldn’t this be easier in the water?” he asked with a slight change in tone, like he was scared. “Hush, boy don’t you want to learn,” the teacher took his hand off his shoulder and used it to cover Ollie’s mouth. What do I do. No one ever taught me what to do fuck. There was so many thoughts running through his head and he didn’t know what to do when the teacher was pulling him closer. “Don’t be scared son,” came the creepy voice again as he pushed Ollie towards the wall of the shower building. He couldn’t answer because his mouth was still covered by a huge hand. In a moment of panic he decided to lick it. That always worked when people were covering your mouth with their hand right? “You’re such a naive little child, just like you’ve always been,” was the response. Shit shit shit. He couldn’t help but freeze when that didn’t work. He had him backed up against the wall now and Ollie didn’t move he didn’t try to take the Coach’s hand off his mouth, and he didn’t remember anything from school when they told you want to do when someone attacked you weren’t you supposed to scream, or make as much noise as possible? He didn’t even remember the first thing about what to do. His mind went blank in that moment. That was until the teacher started to pull down his shorts. “You were always such a quiet child Ollie,” he whispered. Ollie suddenly knew what he had to do. As soon as the teacher started to reach for his private parts, he kicked his attacker going for the attacker’s privates. While the teacher stumbled backward Ollie came with him because of his strong grip on his face. Which gave Ollie a chance to pull his hand off and start to take off, not so fast though, because the struggle wasn’t over. “He—“ he managed to choke out half the word before there was a hand on his mouth again, and this time Ollie couldn’t find a way to get it off. “You’re only making it harder for yourself if you struggle.” Were the last words his brain could comprehend before he woke up in the hospital. *** “Can you hear me?” his eyes opened slightly, but fell closed again. The woman asked his name, but there was no response. “Yes I need an ambulance, I don’t know I brought my kids to go swimming, and there was a man with a kid, but the man ran away when we showed up, I didn’t get a description of his face, but the kid was face down in the pool we managed to get him out, but I don’t think he’s breathing right.” The woman sounded frantic as she talked into the phone. “Oh my god what happened to Ollie,” his sister came running in. Her bare feet pounding against the side walk. “Do you know him?” The woman asked, Phoenix nodded, as the phone was thrust in her direction as the woman started giving cpr. *** They told them that he was going to be fine. A little traumatized, but he was going to be able to wake up and be able to live his life again. They wanted him to tell them who did it because all the woman that had come in had seen was the back of his head as he ran away, and it took Ollie months to finally comprehend it. He didn’t go back to school after that, and did online school for his junior and senior years of high school. He didn’t talk to anyone about it for a long time, but finally he decided to go to the police and talk. He didn’t say anything else, because they had all the proof they needed from the day he came to the hospital. He got jail time, and Ollie didn’t really pay attention to how long. He stopped swimming after that, for fear of drowning. He decided that he needed to move on though, and decided to come to L.A where his siblings went to college. He started to like life again, but part of him is still scared of things. He still has nightmares about that day, but he never tells anyone. He never says anything because he doesn’t want to worry them, and acts like a happy kid. When inside he still hurts. He’s been to multiple people to talk about it, and none of them really helped much. One of them convinced him to start writing out everything, and that was how he discovered that he was quite good at writing, and decided to study that. So far writing things down has helped him a lot. He never talks about it though, and is scared to tell people. |
