It's a Bonfire, Turn the lights out

Kelvin Westfield sighed with ease, as he drove himself, along with his friend Cassidy Russel to the beach. Now the most peaceful beach was close to the University they attended. Right next to Pearson Park. In Kelvin's trunk there were there was beer, some chips and snacks, like cookies and stuff, there where hot dogs and burgers so that they could barbeque, and of course, Kelvin had brought things to make Smores, chocolate cookies with the marshmallows. Then there were other types of drinks in case anyone didn't want to bring beer. Just for the irony, Kelvin had brought three bottles of sangria, just because Kelvin and Stacy where half Hispanic, although really, Spaniards drank most sangria, like Kelvin's father, who had been a Spaniard. Kelvin had some weed hidden inside his chair, so that in case the police stopped him, nobody saw that he had the possession. Kelvin wondered if having brought beer was a good idea, or any type of alcohol, because Kelvin was sure that he, Benny, and Alec where the only ones legal to drink, and then there was Cassidy. Kelvin and Cici was barley over the age limit, getting lucky to being exact. It made him think, had he been a type of pedophile for having a crush on Stacy? He was twenty-one, and she was nineteen. Yes they where two years apart, but she was still counted as a teenager. So yeah. Maybe it had been for the best that he not try anything with Stacy. Especially with the press she got, and the fact that there would be more press with him being one of the stars of the Basketball team at Landcaster University.
Kelvin parked his car, and led Cassidy to the sand, the water was peaceful, the sound of the small waves crashing the shore. Kelvin saw a perfect place to put the fire. It wasn't light out it was maybe around nine, when the sun started to go down, because that would be the suckiest time to have a bonfire. A bonfire was meant to illuminate it, and being able to spend all night there. And on that beach, you did have permission to sleep there. Well, Kelvin had brought a few tents and sleeping bags in case anyone wanted to, they could always pack up and go back home. He had brought lots of fire wood, making a circle, and then placing fire wood in the middle, along with a sack of coal. And after putting gas over it, he lit a few matches, and the fire slowly began to grow. Kelvin had pushed logs of wood so they could sit around the bonfire and roast and shit.
Kelvin took off his hoodie, which was the only thing he had for a shirt, and was left with his swimming trunks. Funny, it was one of the few times Kelvin didn't put on a hat or a beanies, which to him was kind of his signature trademark, he always wore caps, or beanies, or a times he would wear a bandana as a earwarmer at times but apart from that, it was unusual for him to go with his normal curly hair. He smiled over at his friend Cici as he waited for his other friends to come. He had invited all of them, Nadi, Stacy, Benny (Guy love), and Alec, because the group (or maybe just Kelvin) saw him as one of their own, and as a big brother. "There is some more wood and branches over there if you wanna burn some things, little pyromaniac." Kelvin said, knowing that Cici had a thing for seeing things burn, which fascinated and disturbed Kelvin out at the same time.

Bonfires brought Stacy back to her high school days. She remembered staying up until eleven and sitting on the cool sand. Tiffany, Sean and Alec were usually there. Sean making googly eyes at Tiffany and Alec reacting loudly about burning his tongue with a roasted marshmallow. It brought a smile to her face as she neared the beach. The natural star-lit sky away from the city lights, it was actually quite refreshing. It was evident that there was someone important cruising through the highway. Stacy's Aston Martin wasn't at all that discreet. She remembered when she was first learning how to drive and she had almost ran over little Miracle who despite little wasn't very young anymore. Also, when uncle Leo stopped them and they had no idea it was him so they freaked out. Ah yes, memories. Stacy walked toward the fire site and hollered a lengthy, "Hey!" before approaching everyone. She dropped her bags that she had brought with her belongings and such. She hadn't brought a bathing suit because she wasn't planning on getting in the water. However, things never went according to plan, did they? "So I bought more food because there can never be enough of it." she grinned as she brought out the goodies she had brought from her bag. Stacy placed the items where all the food was and decided to kick off her sandals. She felt the cool sand on her feet and then came back those memories. www.polyvore.com/bonfire_stacy/set?id=89298488

Getting a bit too caught up in fixing the latest model in the Camaro line, Alec was too late to carpool with anyone else in the Swag Squad. It was okay, though. He loved to be on the road and while it was much more fun with some friends in the car, some alone time with his favorite playlist wasn't such a bad alternative. He didn't think it was worth the money and trouble to add a sound system to his 1985 Silverado, so the bass enhancement option in his phone was as low as his bass was dropping. He wore the newest addition to his tank collection, which he thought was clever and ironic at the same time since he was born and raised in New York and now resides just outside L.A. Alec also had no intention to keep it on, as he planned to jump in the water butt-naked as soon as he arrived at the beach. His roommates Cici and Stacy knew just exactly how hard it was for him to keep his clothes on. He wasn't always like this, but perhaps the drastic change in climate caused this strange habit of this to form. "Ayyy~" Alec yelled, hopping out from his pickup truck and making his way over to the others. He picked up a bottle of beer, popped off the cap using his belt, and took a swig. There were no words to describe the feeling of a cold beer after a long day of work, even though he had one almost every night. Then, before anyone could react, Alec began to remove his clothes and dropped them in a pile at his feet, where he stepped out of his Nike slides. Knowing Stacy, she'd probably take the pile and hide it or maybe even dump it in the water with him, but he had extra clothes in the truck. "Whoo~" he cried, running towards the water. Still greasy and sweaty from work, this was like bath time for Alec and the beach was his tub. ( www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=89552017 )

When it came to parties, Kendra was in her element. She loved to have fun, and she liked to joke around. Surely people could appreciate a free spirit in the room. She didn’t use parties to find her potential husband that seemed ant productive. She liked to hook up and flirt. It was just in her nature to float about on her every whim and not worry. She didn’t want to get tied down with kids like her mother did, not that her mother should be ashamed or anything- great woman.
Kendra eyed herself in the mirror quite pleased with her appearance. A slightly see through crop top and shorts with some boots. Bam! Easy on the eyes and easy to take off. She decided on a bathing suit just in case they decided to swim. She always thought midnight swims were romantic. Now that she thought about it, she hadn’t slept with someone on the beach. Well, now that was on her slut bucket list. Kendra wore her hair down in soft curls that framed her face. She adjusted her boobs in her top before giving herself a confidence wink before the bonfire started.
With a cookie in her hand, she stepped into her car and made her way to the bonfire. She couldn’t remember what time the bonfire started, but knew with the people probably going it would go all night. She had a couple of cases in her backseat, just in case everyone needed a little motivation to have fun. She was now part of the … Swag Squad? Swag Brigade? Team Swagger? She shouldn’t remember exactly, and it really was something Kelvin called it. Cici was really the only reason she was in to, but she didn’t mind. The blonde was a childhood friend, basically family.
Pulling up to the scene, Kendra climbed out of her car with a smile on her face. She loved to party, and she loved her friends. Everything was perfect. She grabbed a case in each hand and made her way down toward the fire. “What-up bitches!” she said her classic greeting, bringing her arms up to show her little contribution for the night. “Mr. Dark Chocolate,” she greeted Kelvin with a friendly wink and a smile. Kendra paused in front of Stacy and gave her the once over. “Damn, girl!” she raised her brows,” you be looking fine!” Kendra greeted a few more people before looking up to see Alec… and a full moon. She let out a roaring laugh before a nice long cat call for the male plunging into the water.

Kelvin sat back thinking about what had happened the other day. He had been walking home from a late preseason practice session that had been held in the Staples center, when he had seen a person, to whom to Kelvin, was the lowest a human being could be. Dime. Kelvin couldn't stop thinking about what Dime said, about how Kelvin used to be a thug. How in God's name did Dime know he was a thug? Kelvin had never told anyone about his past gang life, because it had been a mistake he had made. Kelvin was never supposed to be in that gang, he could've avoided it. He didn't live in a ghetto, he hadn't been a orphan runaway, but yet, Kelvin had decided to make the stupid decision to join the gang, risking his life almost everyday, just because he had been bullied. Him joining the gang was a favor in exchange from protection, and by the time Kelvin had learned to fight really great, it was too late for him to leave. He couldn't. He had a new family there that counted on him, he had Jacob. Kelvin tried to shake the thoughts out of his head, Dime calling him a thug, Jacob's fatal wound, and everything he had seen during and after. Because it hadn't been that easy going back into town after he had left. The gang almost jumped him, accusing him of betrayal, but the leader ordered them to stand down, and that was the last he had ever seen of the gang.
He thought in between that, and wondered if he should tell his friends. He knew he really didn't have to, but what if his friends found out and thought of Kelvin as some kind of dangerous freak? No, he would have to tell them face to face before they found out the wrong way, maybe he could say it in later at night. Kelvin hadn't even told Benny. Benny his best friend, and that was one thing Kelvin had never said. Just like how Kelvin had never told them how his father died. As Kelvin thought about it, he was slowly and slowly turning into his uncle Kameron. Sweet old uncle Kameron, now he had a reason to deal drugs and join a gang, because he wanted protection for his family, Kelvin was only thinking about himself. Which is not what he was about. Anyone of of the people with him at that beach, Kelvin would protect with his life, each and everyone of them.
Kelvin looked as his friends arrived, Stacy being the first. "Hey Stace. I don't suppose you brought more KFC right?" Kelvin joked. Everyone of his friends knew Kelvin's insane love for KFC. Now Kelvin didn't know if it was because he was black, or if it was because he just loved chicken. He looked over at Stacy. Kelvin's crush on her had faded really, it had just been a crush, nothing serious. Even Kelvin knew Jeremiah and Stacy belonged for each other, and hoped that there weren't any awkward feelings in between them, Jeremiah had made that very clear to Kelvin the other day in and awkward conversation on a chat room that they usually used. Kelvin had to admit that Stacy was looking good, except for one thing. "You brought a beanie to the beach?" Kelvin asked. "Could that be anymore hipster?" Kelvin teased. He really wasn't one to be talking, he was usually caught wearing a beanie or a cap. He even remembered a line in one of his songs. I ain't afraid to admit that I love these hoes, and their jacket and their glasses adn their hipster clothes. Yeah, Kelvin did like hipster girls at times.
Then came Alec, oh sweet sweet Alec. Kelvin did like Alec, and that was why Kelvin was glad he came. If Kelvin would ever turn gay (which would be very unlikely to happen as Kelvin very much enjoys fucking women), he would first try and get with Alec, just because he was a pretty cool guy. Kelvin looked at Alec as he came. "Hey Alec, what's up?" Kelvin greeted. But too late, Alec was already stripped and running into the water. Kelvin was pretty sure that might be illegal, because it wasn't a nudist beach, but it was starting to become night, so he was sure people came and skinny dipped all the time. And then came Kendra, now there were people still missing that hadn't come. Like Champagne or Benny, or even Nadi. Then there was also Tiffany who was yet to come, but right now they were there. He was sure that they had invited others like Jaden or Jeremiah. "Kendraaa. Miss Chunky." Kelvin said, not to insult or anything, it was just something they called her, even though Kendra was like way far from being chunky, she was no where even close. Shirtless Kelvin got up and hugged Kendra. He hadn't hugged Stacy when she had come because he though that things might still be awkward in between them.

Truthfully, Nadeen was one of the worst members of the swag squad. She had a tendency to meet with everyone on their own time, rather than at group events. The girl figured if at least she did make time for the group, individually, she'd be fine. The group events just never seemed to happen when she was able or felt like going out. Tonight however, had been surprisingly different. With little to do and having bought a new outfit it seemed like the stars had aligned! Hardly having the time to plan, Nadi had no time to call in a favor from her of age friends to get her booze. At the very least, she figured she’d give Kelvin some money and steal what he had to drink—hopefully something other than beer. Hell, even if it was something other than beer she doubted she’d like it. If the drink remotely tasted of alcohol, Nadi would make a face. She liked her drinks strong and disguised. Of course that all changed once she had a few drinks in her and she reached the point where she couldn't even taste the booze and drank whatever she had straight (a stage she tried to avoid around most groups). That fact aside, it wouldn’t stop her from baking a few cookies and making the short drive down to the beach, also missing the carpool. The girl hadn’t even bothered to text she intended to come at all. The last Stacy, Kelvin or anyone had heard was “I’ll see—take fun pictures for me! <3” Now with her bag packed and swim suit peaking out from under her red top, Nadi pulled up next to the pickup truck in her yellow beetle. “Am I late?” Nadi called sticking her head out the window, giving her hand a quick wave before slipping out of the car, latching her keys onto a little clip hanging off her shorts. She made that a habit, having lost her keys once on the beach before…Never. Again. ( i686.photobucket.com/albums/vv227/Diedie_Ri/Forums/bonfire.jpg )
